Please join us for the 4th Annual Human Rights Shabbat.  The focus of our service will be on
Islamaphobia and bigotry with guest speaker Tahera Ahmad, Associate Chaplain and Director of Interfaith Engagement at Northwestern University.  Chaplain Ahmad was called a “leading Muslim woman” by the Obama White House.  She is a dynamic young scholar who attended graduate school at Hartford Seminary, where she studied Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations.  She was also a Muslim chaplain at Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts and has been featured in several documentary films. Chaplain Ahmad received international media coverage when she faced discrimination on a United Airlines flight at which time she was denied a can of soda because it could be used as a weapon even though other passengers on the flight were given soda cans.

This promises to be an inspiring and timely service.
