We had our first taste of Congregation Solel’s 60th celebration at the oneg after the Annual Solel BBQ on Friday night, August 25. If you missed it, you will have plenty of opportunities to celebrate over the months ahead.
During the High Holy Days, you heard some possibilities for our future so elegantly conveyed by Rabbi Moffic and our President, Holly Krakow. On Sunday afternoon, November 12, we will officially kick off our special 60th anniversary programming with a concert and lecture entitled, “The Future of Jewish Music” led by Cantor Jay O’Brien and friends. Please save the date!
Specifically, during the concert and lecture, Cantor Jay will both teach about and perform examples from some of the most exciting trends in contemporary Jewish music. The musical program will feature contemporary works by today’s leading composers and songwriters from a variety of locales including America, Europe, Israel, and South America. Special musical guests will include our very own music director Russell Stern, as well as surprise appearances from other Cantors and Jewish musicians in the Chicago area.
Do not miss this exciting musical event; come celebrate Solel’s 60th anniversary as we look forward to the next 60 years!
More to come. Watch the Pathfinder and weekly Shavu’on for more details. Happy Anniversary to you!
