The Fall Blood Drive on November 11, 2018 was a huge success, setting a new record for units donated at Solel. Thanks to the generosity of Solel members and other members of the community, 73 people donated blood, which will supply 219 units of blood to patients who are in need. Our previous record was 68 units in Spring of 2017.

A special thank you to our 5 double red donors and to the 7 new donors that participated in today’s drive.  We are certainly looking forward to our combined Solel/Lakeside Spring Blood drive on April 7th, 2019 where we are confident that we will continue breaking records.  Thank you to the 61 donors who have already signed up in advance for their timeslot.  We credit the excellent Vitalant staff (formerly LifeSource) in addition to donors pre-registering for a designated time to help things run smoothly.

Donors received tee shirts from Lifesource in recognition of their donations. During the blood drive, Solel hosted an Adult Education program, which brought in several donors who had never donated blood at Solel. We also had some new religious school parents and grandparents participating. The drive flowed smoothly with minimal waiting time. Once Upon a Bagel again donated four-dozen bagels for donors participating in the drive, and there were lots of additional baked goods. Saving lives is the ultimate mitzvah; our congregation should feel proud of our work of tikkun olam.

Our Spring Blood Drive is on April 7, 2019.

In anticipation of our merging with Lakeside Congregation, we will be merging our blood drives in April. Numerous donors have already reserved spots to donate. So please sign up early to reserve the time you want to donate on the Vitalant (Lifesource) website or by contacting a committee member:
