Make this the year you keep those New Year’s resolutions.  Yoga can be the missing link to change in improving your life physically, emotionally and spiritually.  There are simplistic Yoga techniques that can change your mood, improve your state of mind in a matter of minutes, turn your whole day around and help you move forward in your life.  You do not have to be fit, flexible, or in the right state of mind to begin.  Yoga meets you where you are at and enhances your life.  It is not just a physical practice!  Yoga has the power to transform each and every life it touches.  Take a journey through an intriguing ancient practice and learn why Yoga has become the rage of western culture.  Leave with an extensive toolbox of simplistic ways to integrate Yoga into your everyday life.  Experience first-hand various aspects of the practice.  This workshop is open to everyone and no previous Yoga experience is necessary as this class is NOT a flow and moves at an appropriate pace.  The class is designed to be part lecture and part practice.

WEEK 1 – INTRO TO YOGA

  • General introduction and overview of Yoga
  • Introduction to Eight Limbs
  • Importance of Cultivating a Mindfulness Practice

(Awareness, Breath, Connection of Mind, Body and Spirit)

  • Supine Pranayama and Body Scan Meditation
  • Anjali Mudra
  • Yoga Asana – Heart Opener Practice

WEEK 2 – OVERCOMING OBSTABLES / EMOTIONAL BALANCE, MANAGING FEAR, DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

  • Yogic Breathing w/Supta Baddha Konasana (strap)
  • How Yoga can aid in understanding and overcoming obstacles
  • Ganesha Mudra
  • Discuss Divine, Expansion, Flow, Gratitude, Healing, Identity/Ego
  • Yoga Asana – Hip Openers
  • Shortened Body Scan and Meditation (10-15 minutes)

WEEK 3 – GOING INWARD, STAYING CONNECTED, INTEGRATING SELF, DREAMS, GOALS AND PURPOSE

  • Yoga Asana – Cooling/Feminine practice
  • Discuss Love, Meditation, Nourishment, Optimism, and Purpose
  • Lotus Mudra (talk about the meaning of the lotus)
  • Loving Kindness Meditation (Meta)

WEEK 4 – LIVING A VIBRANT LIFE IN A WORLD OF STRESS

  • Slow Sun Salutations w/Asana Review / Partial Restorative Practice
  • Yoga Nidra
  • Discuss Quieting the Mind, Risk, Surrender, Tolerance,

Umbrella and Vulnerability, and Words

  • Mudra Vinyasa (practice all three from prior weeks together)
