April 27-29, 2018
with Rabbi Emeritus Dov Taylor
Join us! As the concluding program in our 60th Anniversary Celebration, Solel will honor Rabbi Emeritus Dov Taylor in celebration of his 50 years in the rabbinate and welcome him as he returns for a Scholar-in-Residence Weekend.
Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Rabbi Taylor’s Shabbat evening sermon:
“Know Whence Thou Comest and Whither Thou Art Going”
At the service conclusion, Solel will enthusiastically honor all congregants present for their history of Solel membership over the last 60 years, from 60 year members to our newest.
The service will be followed by a festive Oneg Shabbat, including home-baked sweets.
Saturday, April 28 at 9:15 a.m.
Shabbat morning Torah study:
“Song of Songs: Reading Out and Reading In”
As Spring/Passover is the time to study the biblical “Song of Songs,” Rabbi Taylor will focus on what two thousand years of rabbinic commentaries have found in and read into this most glorious love poetry. The text will be available for participants.
Sunday morning, April 29 at 10:00 a.m.
“Telling Tales Out of School: 50 Years and Counting”
Foregoing contemporary Jewish issues this year, Rabbi Taylor will share some of the most memorable experiences in his fifty years in the rabbinate.
Please mark your calendars. This will be a celebratory and stimulating weekend!
