Shabbat

Shabbat, or the Sabbath, is a day of rest and is celebrated every week from Friday night at sundown (25 hours). On Shabbat, we spend time with family, pray, read, and rejuvenate. Many Jewish people light candles to symbolically ward off the darkness and welcome the Divine.

At Congregation Solel, we are constantly thinking of ways to make prayer accessible, appealing, and meaningful for our congregation. Whether through music, meditations, readings, or ideas, our intention is to create a moving experience for all those who enter our sacred space. Our hope is that each person who comes into our Sanctuary will leave transformed by the power of the prayer experience, whether on a spiritual, emotional, or intellectual level.

Prayer at Congregation Solel is participatory, warm, and welcoming. Please join us on Friday evening at 7:30pm on most weeks or at 6:15pm on the last Shabbat of the month. On Saturday mornings, we offer a lay-led Minyan service at 10:35am. When scheduled, Bar or Bat Mitzvah services take place at 10:30am.

On Friday evenings, we offer the following worship experiences:

Hava Nashira is a bi-monthly musical service featuring Solel’s own instrumentalists and vocalists. This service is your opportunity to embark on a spiritual musical journey of joy and inspiration. Please joins us for the Hava Nashira service at 7:30pm on December 6, February 7, April 11, and June 6.
Choral Shabbat is a service that takes place on the third Friday of every month at 7:30pm. This service features Solel’s adult choir and creates opportunities for meditative listening moments, spirited congregational singing, and lush harmonies.
Shabbat Shalom is an upbeat multi-generational prayer experience for the whole family. Every last Shabbat of the month, we begin by building community with a pizza dinner at 5:30pm, followed by a lively and energetic service at 6:15pm. This service features Congregation Solel’s Youth Choir “Rimonim.”
Grade-led Shabbat gives our Religious School students the opportunity to lead worship. These services highlight our amazing students, serve as a testament to our outstanding Religious School, and are an inspiring reminder that our Jewish future is in terrific hands.
